The LLM will onboard you now

· 1min

We’ve all seen great examples of Generative AI being applied to existing software workflows, allowing users to complete tasks faster, better, and cheaper.

But one of the applications of Gen AI that I actually think is underappreciated at the moment is onboarding and setup flows.

Note: This was originally published as a LinkedIn post here.

Instead of landing users on products with huge empty states full of contextual onboarding guides, educational content, and generic templates — which, of course, have their own importance — products can now tailor the initial setup much better. If given the right context, LLMs might be able to capture enough nuance about the specific needs and use cases of each new user/account, and create initial product artifacts that effectively let users get started right away with something concrete and relevant to them. We can shift users from a reality where they have to build everything from scratch to one where they become curators of what the product has already set up for them. The downstream effect is that, suddenly, time to value can be significantly reduced!

We’ve been experimenting with this at Amplemarket and our latest LLM powered automatic setup is Competitors. Setting up your competitors is a crucial part of our product’s setup and onboarding experience because it lets us start tracking people from your ICP that are actively engaging with your competitors — providing you with high-intent leads from day one! Which obviously has a huge impact on how quickly users reach their ‘aha’ moment with us.

A lot more work in this direction hopefully coming soon :)
